Keeping it simple : Succulents

Succulent_LindsayNohl_web_sm

Keeping it simple today!
I had a great trip to the Como Conservatory today with Chris and it was AWESOME! Man, I have been craving some living plant-action!
It's been so white outside and it seemed like a nice Sunday outing. I did a couple tiny drawings this morning while I was at this new coffee house near my house, Parka and just ran with them for this pattern.

I was making loads of little terrariums last summer and I was having flashbacks when I was making this pattern. I really ought to do that again. I think I just might!

I usually frown at white backgrounds on patterns but for some reason this one just felt right. I had this one a couple other colors before I finally just left it alone. So here you have it! Little tiny cuttings from some of my favorite succulents!

(I'm also channeling some 70s art vibe in here. Inspired by a pic I saw earlier today while I was in a used bookstore near my house!)

Daily Pattern - Cactus Terrariums

I was super excited about this pattern. My parents were up here last weekend and my whole family helped me build terrariums! I bought a ton of mini succulent plants, rocks, moss and dirt and we built almost 15 terrariums! I had asked my cute parents to add a couple words to our topic jar when they visited the office and I suppose they must have put this one in the mix!

My friend, (and very talented artist) Meg Hunt, also just made a bunch of cute paper terrariums for her show at Land in Portland, Oregon. She was there with me when I got my very first mini-terrarium! Good luck Meg! I hope your opening is wonderful! I was thinking about you while I was making this one!!

Daily Pattern: Cactus Collection

Cacti are the only plant I can keep alive, but that's alright because I think they're the best! While looking up reference for these darling succulents I came across a cacti wedding bouquet - my heart melted. I already shared my dream of having a make your own hot dog bar at my wedding, but I'm definitely adding cactus bouquet to my list!
