Daily Pattern: The Long Overdue Bubble Tea Pattern

topic: luxury

A smart person once told me that you know you're doing okay if (without anxiety) you can buy a bubble tea whenever you want. I still think that's the best measuring stick for the amount of wealth a person needs to be content. Maybe now bubble tea is replaced with regular old person tea, or an espresso drink every now and again, but it still makes me feel like I'm livin' the good life.

Daily Pattern: Sweet Treasure

Topic: Luxury

Gimme that loot! Those sweet, shining gems? That's luxury living!

When I was a kid I loved big, fake gems. I was a rock collector and had lots of fine specimens, mostly fossils and amethyst and pyrite, but I wanted the glitzy stuff. Rubies and emeralds and diamonds...

I specifically remember going to the mall with my mom and finding a cheesy plastic bracelet filled with massive fake gemstones. It was at some old lady store, and I spent 8 bucks of my own cash to buy it, so you know it was valuable.

I took it home and immediately pried out all them gems, put them in a steel box, and buried them. Pirate treasure, yo. Pirate treasure.

Daily Pattern : Old Money

I imagine that living in luxury would mean wearing a velveteen robe around whilst sipping your aged wine of choice, and reading classic literature in your study surrounded by stuffed trophy animals. Strangely enough, that seems a lot like what my dad does every night now that he's retired.

(This little guy looks nothing like my dad - except for a little of the grey hair)

Daily Pattern: Luxury is anything made of solid gold

In my mind there is a Simpson's quote about a solid gold car. But I found out I had it all wrong. In reality Chester J. Lampwick said, "I don't care about the money any more. As long as I have my health, my solid gold house, my millions of dollars and my rocket car I'm fine."

I'd rather have a solid gold car I think. Or a bunch of them. With diamonds. Yup.

And because that's not enough solid gold cars, here is even more.
