Daily Pattern : Foliage is sort of a paisley

Like Jesse said in his post, paisley originated from some kind of stylized floral/foliage shape. So, I went super foliage on this one. Here are a bunch of paisley shaped leaves for you. You guys know how much I like drawing leaves!
I tried out one of the new ways to make patterns on this one.

Speaking of patterns. Today was a little bittersweet. It was my final patterns class at MCAD. My students were so awesome and inspirational. We went through everyone's 10 weeks of patterns and everyone had such awesome, beautiful designs. There's something to be said for keeping great company with creative, inspiring people! Tomorrow I'm off to help do a pitch in the dirty south for one of our clients! :D Wish me luck & safe travels!

Daily Pattern : Underfoot

Today was perfect. It was drizzling all day, grey and deserted. My kind of day. Just the perfect fall day. I saw the first signs of "real" fall on the ground. Just a couple brightly colored leaves scattered about from this week's cold snap.

Fall always makes me feel great. It's always a beginning for me. It gives me lots of ideas and everything just slows down a little. I'm looking forward to more brisk walks out in this gorgeous grey weather. Welcome, fall. I've missed you.

Daily Pattern: Autumn Leaves

I had some email trouble, so the lateness for this pattern is completely my fault. Ira had created her botanical, fall-inspired pattern right on time.

“Today in Odessa was the first autumn rain. That means that summer is over, and I'm a little sad. But I decided to draw something that I like about autumn -- the colorful leaves are like a carpet lay on the ground.”

Daily Pattern: Leaf Identification

I figured today's science patterns would all be like microbiology, and microscopes and such so I decided to go a different direction with my science pattern. One of my favorite non art classes in high school was 'Environmental Science' taught by Mr. Forester (how ironic, right?). As part of the class we learned about composting, bird calls, and we also had to learn leaf identification. The semester culminated in a leaf project where we had to collect specimens and put together a journal with facts about different trees. How many of these leaves can you identify?

Daily Pattern : Falling Leaves

Here I am, finishing off the night of our "Fall" theme with my contribution. It's a little 60s inspired, colors and all - and also inspired by my favorite deciduous tree.
I made a bunch of ginko icons, too, but took them out at the last minute! Maybe I'll make a bonus pattern some day with those! Yeah Fall! Best season ever!
