Peter Callesen
Extreme papercrafting! Peter Callesen creates cut paper sculptures, leaving the structures in the the paper they came from. The extra pieces come out of the sheet too.
There are some interesting pieces where he alters the paper ground of the piece to complement the structure.

Better than Prince - a Flairs Music video
Anyone that is in our studio (or has visited) knows this about me :
I have had a weird electronic fetish for the past year or two and this one just popped up on my lastfm stream. Of course, since I spend most of my waking life listening to the same song on repeat until it wears out, I figured this one should be my new favorite.
I think this guy is awesome. Not sure if he's better than Prince... But I love the video and now I will annoy everyone and play this jam on repeat until someone sends me the next best thing.
Woo!

thatgamecompany's Journey
thatgamecompany makes beautiful games. It's just their thing. And their newest game, Journey, looks like it's shaping up to be something truly special.
I don't really know when it's coming out and I don't have any idea about how it plays or what it's about. All I know are these screens and this video, and I'm already sold.

Ah, the creative process.
We got this email from one of our great friends (who would prefer to remain nameless) in which he wrote his re-interpretation of how work emails sound some days :).
Ah, technology.
"So uh, is it possible to open an jaypeg in Adobe Photoshop 2.0? That’s what I think I’m using. There’s a “2” in the title. My computer is hard to use. The arrow on the screen moves too fast and it’s hard to click on a window. I clicked this bar on my window and the screen went away, can you resave and resend me all jaypeg files in Adobe Jaypeg format? I need my internal designer (my brother) to mess up some fonts so I can request you to fix them again later. Oh wait, the window came back but I somehow managed to delete my entire hard drive, can you recreate all the jaypegs for everything all over again from scratch? I need this by 4 today, but please send it to me by 3:00 because I’ll have a bunch of corrections. My printer only prints photograph size paper, but I can only read poster size imagery. Can you please print these on a billboard?
Thanks."

Book
There have been a few projects involving swapping a sketchbook overseas (Sketchtravel is one of the first that comes to mind), but the spreads in Book are so fantastic it's worth going to the website and flipping through the gallery.
There are also images of the exhibition in Belfast, Ireland.

The Noun Project
Edward Boatman is the guy heading the Noun Project, an online collection of free design symbols. You can pledge money, offer designs or help yourself to some over at the website. The symbols are very simple; Boatman's intention is for it to be a universally recognized library of visuals.

Heat Sensitive Wallpaper
Shi Yuan has applied heat-reactive materials to interior design. Calendars and wallpaper mostly, and since we're on a wallpaper kick, this is a pretty neat concept.
Without heat:
With the heat from the radiator:
The blossoms have three states–closed, partially open and open–depending on how warm the surface of the paper is.

Helmut Smits
Helmut Smits is a clever guy. He's all about ideas and his work just makes you smile. He's so full of ideas, in fact, that there's a section of his site dedicated to rough ideas for projects that he just hasn't got around to yet (and maybe never will).
It's often not only the image itself, but also the title or description of materials that transforms what you're looking at.

Seriously, check it out because there is a ton to see.

Cat vs Human - just like real life
These comics pretty much sum up most of what happens in the real lives of some of us here at Paper Bicycle. Catversushuman is an amazing webcomic by Yasmine Surovec - in which she details out what all cat lovers understand: The Beautiful World of Cat Friendship.
True to life.

Gorgeous Vintage Wallpaper : Sears 1908
I've been on a HUGE vintage art kick over the last year or so and have been amassing quite a few really awesome vintage catalogs and stashes. This particular beauty is a Sears Roebuck Co. Chicago 1908 Wall Paper Catalog.
Inside there are almost 100 gorgeous snipits of vintage wallpaper patterns, each still very bright and vibrant. Here are some pictures of some of my favorites.
I love the cabbage roses and romantic trees! It is so cool to see this stuff in person.
Vintage stuff looks like it was made with care, and the colors are amazing!

Tie Tea Cup
The Tie Tea Cup is a sleek solution to protect your tea from that little paper at the end of the tea bag string.
Ironically, I dropped a tea tag into my tea last night. Last straw before posting about this sophisticated invention.

Batman: The Animated Series
Does everybody remember this show? Or how well-designed it was? I forgot until a little bit ago, when I stumbled across this article about the title cards. These images work as stand-alone illustrations but also do a great job of heading what was often a pretty eerie episode.
With influence in noir film, 30s-40s design style and a score by Danny Elfman, the show retains entertainment quality. The stylization is really appropriate and enhances rather than cheapens the stories. A number of the stories themselves are really good, too!
It was also a relief to know it's available on Amazon.

Cookie Party! PB Cookie Exchange was a hit!
Bryan Ische : Striking a pose with his beautiful puppy chow!
It's that time of year! Paper Bicycle hosted this year's festive Cookie Party!
Even though it was a million below zero and Minneapolis had just gone through the biggest blizzard since 1991, we managed to fill the studio with a huge chunk of cookies and their fancy bakers!
Adam Hoppus looks like a stud! Look at those cookies!
There was every type of cookie imaginable here! We were so happy that everyone came out and visited us on this freezing cold day!
Lindsay loves those Mexican Wedding Cookies!
Here are a couple of pics from that day - we have plenty more here if you'd like to take a look at all the awesome people and cookies we had there!
Look at all of these festive people with their festive cookies!
Dean sang like a crazy bird in honor of our special guest, Jesse Riggle (who flew all the way in from New York to be here!) His Cookies were extra spectacular (having been perfected for the last 23 years of his life!)
Cookies a-plenty!
Francesca, Mary, Ben, Nick, Robin, Adam, Noah & Bella! Right to Left!
Guest of honor - Jesse Riggle flew all the way in from New York City!
We're excited it went so well! Can't wait for another one next year!
:) Stay warm out there!
