FOUND : Sky

FOUND_sky_Small

This week's FOUND is about the giant, big, beautiful SKY! I'm filling in for Fran this week and had a chance to pick some of my most recent favorites.

The weather has been changing (for the better, I'd argue) and September is an especially wonderful month to take notice of the things around you. Seasons will begin to change, and soon, we'll welcome Fall (here in Minneapolis!) with open arms.

I wanted to share some awesome pieces that have been created with a little bit of pattern - either in the layout or the details. All three are current favorites of mine on my Pinterest account!

JenniferDavis
I have long been a fan of Jennifer Davis's AMAZING work. For the past 8 years or so, I've been watching as she's made hundreds of gorgeous works - many of which contain beautiful pattern within her shapes. Not to mention the subject matter is super fun and it's always delightful and surprising! Jennifer Davis always has the most playful work. Her scenes are fanciful, quiet, and intriguing. I wanted to show one of her pieces that has a little bit of everything. I love the atmosphere in this piece, it's so much fun. AND THE COLORS ARE TO DIE FOR.

EloiseRenouf
I also wanted to introduce you to the artwork of Eloise Renouf. EDIT: So sorry for the mixed up credit here! We're all fixed now! This piece is great. you can tell she has a great understanding of pattern composition, even in an illustrative form! And, as always, I'm a huge fan of rain. Super cute. I love that mix of hand-done looking textures with digital, and DEFINITELY love the mustard color in there. I could live in that color.

FredrikAkum
Finally, here is some amazing painterly work by Fredrik Akum. Everything about his work is breathtaking. There is such a spontaneity about his process - the end pieces look effortless, but so well crafted at the same time. His site is a wealth of gems (a combination of fantastic paintings and photography) and all of it has a very ethereal feeling to it. I found this piece while looking through Flickr, and fell in love with it. As I sit here, it's getting into the wee hours of the morning, and I can't help but imagine what moon is out there tonight.

Hope your week is going wonderfully. In the meantime, make sure to look up every now and again.

Goodnight!
-Lindsay

  2. Just in case you missed in on Twitter I wanted to correct it here. That's not my work. It's Eloise Renouf and you can find her on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/people/EloiseRenouf. She's got some great prints.
