I was too concerned with each icon and wasn't thinking much about the pattern as a whole. Which is too bad. I'd love to go back and play with color and scale to make this more cohesive, but I'm out of time.
That said, I like the actual art a lot. The idea was to depict a nerd who gets so swept up into nerd-books that he takes on the role of major characters in his imagination.
I wanted one icon for each character. I didn't think that through because I'm completely unfamiliar with Harry Potter and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so I had to get some help on icons that might fit those stories. Luckily we got a bunch of nerds up in this studio...
